CALL FOR PHOTOS
OVIEDO PARKS & RECREATION

Parks and Recreation has requested wildlife and general photos taken in City Parks.  They especially want photos taken in the preserve area of Shane Kelly Park, but any other city park photos will be provided to them for their use.  Please email the club when your photos are ready to upload.

When: April 26 - April 30

The 2017 Birding & Photo Fest will feature the return of festival favorites, world-class photographers along with new professionals and instructors who will offer technical training opportunities and more birding in-field programs than ever before.
As always, festival participants will benefit from insights and instruction from a collection of upper echelon international nature and wildlife photographers - a group that continues to solidify Florida's Birding & Photo Fest as one of the premier events in North America. And of course the community of St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and all of Florida's Historic Coast is welcoming bird lovers and photography aficionados with the friendly hospitality you've come to expect. For more information check out their website at  www.floridasbirdingandphotofest.com

PRESIDENT'S  MESSAGE
The latest photos are now hanging in City Hall and have already received compliments from the city staff.  Thank you once again Kellie for taking on the difficult job of curating the selections.  And thank you Scott for the wonderful job you do printing the photos and the title cards, framing and hanging our photos.  I couldn't imagine trying to do this without you both.

Since our last meeting in March we've covered a Sunshine Dance, a St. Luke's Concert, displayed our works at the Farmer's Market and photographed a High Tea.  I want to especially thank Larry and Rich P. for coming to their first Sunshine Dance and joining Jerry, Frederic. and me.

At one point Rich, Jerry and Frederic started taking a small group photo.  Before long, participants kept joining the group and they ended up with a group shot that included almost all the participants.  The participants love getting their photos taken.  I always leave the dances thinking we had as much fun as the guests.  Frank, Frederic and I enjoyed listening to and photographing the Cantata Choir & Chamber Ensemble.  We also enjoyed the excellent goodies at the reception afterwards.  Two of our newest members, Ali and Christine, displayed their photos at the Farmer's Market along with Scott, Jerry, Paula, Margie, Rich K., Frederic, Mike M., and me.   Thank you to all of you who participated in these events.

Coming up we have one of our major events.  The Marshmallow Drop is a unique event and requires several volunteers to cover it completely.  It's an active event and we take a lot of photos in a very short period of time.  Thank you to those who've already volunteered and I hope to hear from several more of you before the big day.  I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating, this event is one of the main reasons the City allows us to meet in the Cultural Center at no charge.

Finally, don't forget to take some time and some photos for yourself.  Google Holidays for some inspiration.  Did you know you just missed Find a Rainbow Day, World Rat Day, and Tartan Day.  There are holidays for every day, week and month.  Monday is National Farm Animals Day and National Sibling day. What's next Tuesday.  Join our private Facebook Page to find out.
